We like to keep things simple in small spaces. Over the years of working with clients in NYC, we've found 'reduction' is a greater tool than 'addition'. By reducing clutter, one can have the sense of more space. In this project, we edited the primary materials down to two materials: oak and marble.  The caldia marble flooring flows between the entry, kitchen, and bathroom, creating a sense of unity between the spaces. The same marble is also used as the counter and 'thick' backsplash which reinforces this connection. The white oak cabinetry, paneling, and custom-made doors, were detailed to further push the reductionist idea and maximize the simple, spatial effect.
